Luigi Mangione appears in court over healthcare CEO’s killing with trial a month away

Prosecutors allege that Mangione gunned down Brian Thompson outside New York City hotel in December 2024

Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, appeared Tuesday morning in Manhattan state court for a final pre-trial conference, where the judge addressed contentious issues surrounding media access at the highly anticipated trial.

Judge Gregory Carro announced that there would be an overflow courtroom for the 8 September trial. The media access plan for Mangione’s case did not initially include an overflow courtroom – which is common in high-profile cases, such as Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial.
