Within the next century, about half of the 7,000 languages spoken on Earth today will have disappeared, taking with them a unique lexicon, culture and way of seeing the world.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m lucky enough to be one of just 0.01% of the world\u2019s population who speaks Welsh as their mother tongue.<strong> <\/strong>Its survival over 1,500 years is remarkable, living cheek by jowl with English, the most dominant language on Earth. The Welsh language faces a genuine threat; it is classed as \u201cvulnerable\u201d by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.endangeredlanguages.com\/lang\/10429\">Endangered Languages Project<\/a> and \u201cpotentially vulnerable\u201d by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wal.unesco.org\/languages\/welsh?TSPD_101_R0=080713870fab2000238a1fb48d24cab1c2a71e5c4a3ffc414b9ddd10cf652d5aee41df8c142ff5f408e44737e7143000d2527e24d7869025a138354eff500cb89f522f1c3ee0e7515a8f208c6cf76b4afc8f1ee38211da8ce0d28777ff4fc3f6\">Unesco<\/a>.
