House Republicans unveiled articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandrop Mayorkas on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The articles, introduced by Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., accuse Mayorkas of “Willfull and systemic refusal to comply with the law” and “breach of public trust.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Throughout his tenure as Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro N. Mayorkas has repeatedly violated\u00a0laws enacted by Congress regarding immigration and border security. In large part because of his unlawful conduct,\u00a0millions of aliens have illegally entered the United States\u00a0on an annual basis with many unlawfully remaining in the\u00a0United States. His refusal to obey the law is not only an\u00a0offense against the separation of powers in the Constitution of the United States, it also threatens our national\u00a0security,” Republicans allege in the first article.<\/p>\n
“Alejandro N. Mayorkas knowingly made\u00a0false statements to Congress that the border is ‘secure,’ that the border is \u2018no less secure than it was\u00a0previously,\u2019 that the border is ‘closed,’ and that\u00a0DHS has \u2018operational control\u2019 of the border,” they allege in the second article.<\/p>\n
