The chaotic collapse of the continuing resolution spending bill is putting House Speaker Mike Johnson\u2019s, R-La., leadership under the spotlight and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.,<\/u><\/a> has floated the idea of replacing him with Elon Musk, President-elect Trump’s pick to co-chair his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).<\/p>\n

Paul took to Musk\u2019s X on Thursday morning to pitch the idea of the tech billionaire taking the House speaker\u2019s gavel, noting that the speaker does not need to be a sitting member of Congress.<\/p>\n

“The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress\u2026 Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk<\/u><\/a>\u2026 think about it… nothing\u2019s impossible.
