{"id":29639,"date":"2025-01-03T19:24:01","date_gmt":"2025-01-03T19:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news2shorts.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/03\/washington-state-democrats-accidentally-email-their-radical-tax-plan-to-entire-senate\/"},"modified":"2025-01-03T19:24:01","modified_gmt":"2025-01-03T19:24:01","slug":"washington-state-democrats-accidentally-email-their-radical-tax-plan-to-entire-senate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news2shorts.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/03\/washington-state-democrats-accidentally-email-their-radical-tax-plan-to-entire-senate\/","title":{"rendered":"Washington state Democrats accidentally email their \u2018radical\u2019 tax plan to entire Senate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington state Democrats appeared to have accidentally emailed their sweeping revenue plans and internal talking points on tax hikes to the entirety of the upper chamber&#8217;s members in Olympia, Fox News has learned.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/economy\/taxes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Property tax hikes<\/a> and a new double-digit tax on firearms are among proposals Washington state Democrats are considering, according to materials originally disseminated to all members by Washington Senate Deputy Floor Leader Noel Frame, D-Seattle, in late December and later obtained by Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A document entitled &#8220;2025 Revenue Options&#8221; and a PowerPoint presentation describing how to talk to constituents in defense of the plan were included in the messages.<\/p>\n<p>The document lists proposed figures for an 11% tax on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/personal-freedoms\/second-amendment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ammunition and firearms<\/a>, reclassifying storage unit rentals as a retail transaction and a lift on the property tax levy lid for certain Washingtonians.<\/p>\n<p>A PowerPoint slide, highlighted by Seattle radio host Jason Rantz, described the &#8220;Best way to talk taxes&#8221; \u2013 with a chart of do\u2019s and don\u2019ts for lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/dem-attorneys-general-prepare-legal-battle-trump-challenges-last-term\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>DEMOCRAT ATTORNEYS GENERAL PREPARE FOR LEGAL BATTLES WITH TRUMP<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Do say: &#8220;Pay what they owe&#8221; \u2013 but Don\u2019t say: &#8220;Tax the rich&#8221; or &#8220;pay their fair share&#8221; because &#8220;taxes aren\u2019t a punishment&#8221; the graph read.<\/p>\n<p>It also suggested using the terms &#8220;funding&#8221; &#8220;providing&#8221; and &#8220;ensuring&#8221; when describing the apparent benefits of tax hikes, rather than the term &#8220;investing in [X].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Avoid centering the tax or talking in vague terms about \u2018the economy\u2019 or \u2018education\u2019.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One of the new proposals is that of a &#8220;capital assets ownership tax.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is described as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/personal-finance\/what-are-property-taxes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">similar to property taxes<\/a>, but instead would extend the real estate-type tax to holdings in stocks, bonds and other financial instruments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can ensure that extremely wealthy Washingtonians are taxed on their assets just like middle-class families are already taxed on theirs,&#8221; the slide reads.<\/p>\n<p>Another line directs lawmakers to proverbially &#8220;identify the villain&#8221; that is blocking &#8220;progress&#8221; and lay out &#8220;how we can take action to solve the issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have an upside-down tax code that benefits big corporations and the wealthiest few, that was written 100 years ago and desperately needs an update for the 21st century. If we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/us-regions\/west\/washington\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ensure Washington\u2019s wealthiest pay<\/a> what they truly owe in taxes, the rest of us will have what we need \u2014 like affordable health care, housing, and food.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/nypd-warns-anti-israel-protesters-seattle-style-occupation-zone-wont-tolerated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>FLASHBACK: NYPD WARNS ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTERS THAT A \u2018SEATTLE-STYLE OCCUPATION ZONE\u2019 WON&#8217;T BE TOLERATED<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mynorthwest.com\/4023048\/rantz-after-accidental-leak-of-democrat-tax-plans-will-voters-fall-for-the-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rantz said in a column for MyNorthwest.com<\/a> that the plans accidentally shared present a &#8220;direct contradiction&#8221; to promises from Democrats during the election cycle and lay out 10 total new taxes on residents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These proposals come at a time when the state has seen years of record revenue,&#8221; Rantz said, going on to claim some of the &#8220;tax schemes&#8221; may also be unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>He added that capital gains taxes actually discourage growth and potentially lead to reduced job opportunities for the same workers pro-tax Democrats claim to want to help.<\/p>\n<p>One example he presented was the departure of Amazon founder Jeffrey Bezos from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/democrat-stronghold-votes-protect-natgas-gas-stoves-biden-admin-bugaboo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington state<\/a>. Upon establishing his new Florida residency, one of America\u2019s richest men saved about $1 billion in taxes that also no longer go toward funding the Evergreen State\u2019s programs.<\/p>\n<p>Rantz added that the Washington state Democratic electorate often decries the affordability crisis but then goes on to re-elect the same politicians that exacerbate it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, as Democratic Gov.-elect Robert Ferguson is set to take office later this month, State Rep. Travis Couture, R-Allyn, slammed outgoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/jay-inslee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gov.
