Hadi Matar\u2019s twice-delayed trial began on Monday reviving memories of the religious forces that sought to destroy Rushdie, 77, since a fatwa was issued by Iran\u2019s late leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini following publication of The Satanic Verses in 1988.<\/p>\n
