Federal agencies have until 13 March to formulate staff reduction plans as allies and critics react to Trump\u2019s marathon Congress speech<\/p>\n

We start with news that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is considering reducing its workforce by as much as 50%<\/strong>, according to reports. The agency has already laid off about 7,000 of its 90,000 employees since Donald Trump came to power.<\/p>\n Donald Trump on Tuesday declared that his administration was \u201cjust getting started\u201d<\/a><\/strong> as Democratic lawmakers protested with placards that read \u201clies\u201d and \u201cfalse\u201d during his a marathon address to Congress<\/p>\n The president\u2019s speech was littered with false claims<\/strong> he has previously been corrected on but continues to repeat \u2013 here are some of those \u201cfacts\u201d checked<\/a><\/p>\n He doubled down on his expansionist rhetoric, saying the administration was in the process of \u201creclaiming the Panama canal<\/strong>\u201d and repeating his threat to take control of Greenland<\/strong>: \u201cOne way or the other, we\u2019re going to get it\u201d. The president has also recently stated that the US will \u201cown\u201d the Gaza Strip<\/strong><\/p>\n The dollar has fallen to the lowest level since November<\/a>, after Trump said his new tariffs will cause \u201ca little disturbance\u201d in his Congress speech<\/p>\n Responding to Trump\u2019s speech, Sen Elissa Slotkin<\/strong> of Michigan said that Ronald Reagan \u201cmust be rolling in his grave\u201d after last week\u2019s Oval Office spat with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Trump \u201ccozying up to dictators like Vladimir Putin\u201d, and asserted that Trump would have \u201clost\u201d the cold war<\/p>\n Democratic Rep Al Green<\/strong> of Texas was ejected for an outburst during Trump\u2019s speech. He later told the media \u201cIt\u2019s worth it to let people know that there are some of us who are going to stand up against this president\u201d<\/p>\n The Trump administration has listed over 300 federal buildings for sale.
