{"id":36847,"date":"2025-03-24T05:21:48","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T05:21:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news2shorts.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/24\/us-deportation-flights-to-venezuela-resume-following-weeks-long-standoff\/"},"modified":"2025-03-24T05:21:48","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T05:21:48","slug":"us-deportation-flights-to-venezuela-resume-following-weeks-long-standoff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news2shorts.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/24\/us-deportation-flights-to-venezuela-resume-following-weeks-long-standoff\/","title":{"rendered":"US deportation flights to Venezuela resume following weeks-long standoff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deportation flights to Venezuela resumed on Sunday after a weeks-long standoff between the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump administration<\/a> and the Venezuelan government, signaling a deal had been reached between the two countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A flight carrying 199 illegal aliens \u2013 including members of the violent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tren de Aragua (TDA) gang<\/a> \u2013 to Venezuela landed Sunday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed to Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration has vowed to strike a deal with the Venezuelan government to accept flights carrying deportees from the United States, but has been limited in the regularity of the transfers after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/venezuela-face-severe-escalating-sanctions-doesnt-accept-its-citizens-rubio-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Nichol\u00e1s Maduro<\/a> halted the flights earlier this month \u2013 with only four flights being received by the Venezuelan government since Trump was sworn into office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/venezuela-resume-accepting-us-deportation-flights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>VENEZUELA TO RESUME ACCEPTING US DEPORTATION FLIGHTS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Maduro refused to receive the flights after Trump announced that the U.S. would terminate the Biden-era permit allowing Chevron to export Venezuelan oil, effectively closing off a major revenue source for the country.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, Venezuelan officials have confirmed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/venezuela-agrees-resume-deportation-flights-following-trump-pressure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a deal was reached<\/a> on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Venezuela reports that, within the framework of the Return to the Homeland Plan and with the goal of returning our compatriots to their nation with the safeguarding of their human rights, we have agreed with the U.S. government to resume the repatriation of Venezuelan migrants with an initial flight tomorrow, Sunday, March 23,&#8221;\u00a0Jorge Rodr\u00edguez,\u00a0the president of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-admin-pulling-legal-status-more-than-530k-migrants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><u>Venezuela&#8217;s Assembly<\/u><\/a> and chief negotiator with the U.S., said in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/teleSURtv?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1903432073324491250%7Ctwgr%5E70b811148a0a8c3022eb3fe93e82f03476a36eb2%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-6685522584236247908.ampproject.net%2F2502032353000%2Fframe.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><u>a statement posted to X<\/u><\/a> by the network Telesur.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/thcartwright\/status\/1903789687761768701?s=46&amp;t=-uKBNcvpKKa-SMZhDQK2Jw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Flight-tracking data<\/a> shows a plane operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) departed El Paso and was scheduled to land at Soto Cano air base in Honduras Sunday afternoon. A second plane operated by Venezuelan state airline Conviasa was set to land at the air base within an hour of ICE&#8217;s arrival, seemingly for a handoff between officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/wh-may-reverse-decision-kill-biden-maduro-oil-deal-apply-tariffs-instead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>WH MAY REVERSE DECISION TO KILL BIDEN-MADURO OIL DEAL, APPLY TARIFFS INSTEAD TO AVOID HURTING US FIRMS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The deal comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio vowed that Venezuela would face &#8220;severe, and escalating sanctions&#8221; if the country continued to refuse to accept its citizens that had faced deportation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Venezuela is obligated to accept its repatriated citizens from the U.S. This is not an issue for debate or negotiation,&#8221; Rubio posted to X. &#8220;Nor does it merit any reward.
