The tens of thousands who have taken to Turkey\u2019s streets<\/a> over the last week are not all supporters of Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu<\/a>, the jailed political rival of President\u00a0Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan. They are outraged because they believe that the arrest of Istanbul\u2019s mayor is a tipping point, with the country sliding from\u00a0authoritarian democracy to outright autocracy.<\/p>\n Authorities have now arrested more than 1,400 protesters, including numerous photojournalists<\/a>.
