European leaders have condemned Donald Trump\u2019s tariffs as \u201cfundamentally wrong\u201d and creating an \u201cimmense difficulty for Europe\u201d, while appealing for last-ditch negotiations to avert an all-out trade war.<\/p>\n
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, said Trump\u2019s decision to impose tariffs was \u201cbrutal and unfounded\u201d and appeared to call for a suspension of French investment in the US until the tariffs were clarified.<\/p>\n
