Seawright, who was the 2024 Miss Indian Oklahoma and a previous Chickasaw Princess, had long studied the tradition that she inherited from her ancestors.<\/p>\n<p>In Choctaw and Chickasaw languages, <em>inchunwa<\/em> means \u201cto be marked, branded or tattooed\u201d. So receiving inchunwa, or traditional Indigenous tattoos, is something that must be done with reverence, Seawright said.
