A key researcher in the fight against election misinformation \u2013 who herself became the subject of an intensive misinformation campaign \u2013 has said her field gets accused of \u201cbias\u201d precisely because it\u2019s now mainly rightwingers who spread the worst lies.<\/p>\n
Kate Starbird, co-founder of the University of Washington\u2019s Center for an Informed Public, added that she feared that the entirely false story of rigged elections has now \u201csunk in\u201d for many Americans on the right. \u201cThe idea that they\u2019re already going to the polls with the belief that they\u2019re being cheated means they\u2019ll misinterpret everything they see through that lens,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
