Breaking from the president, Congress voted to fund institutions including the Institute of American Indian Arts<\/p>\n
In a break with Donald Trump<\/a>, the Republican-controlled Congress<\/a> approved a funding bill for multiple key government agencies and institutions in January. Some of those groups included the cultural institutions whose federal funds the president had sought to severely decrease or totally eliminate.<\/p>\n Last year, Trump issued \u201cRestoring Truth and Sanity to American History\u201d, an executive order that specifically cited<\/a> the Smithsonian Institution<\/a> as having \u201ccome under the influence of a divisive, race-centered ideology\u201d.
