Social Circle, a small town in Georgia, is complaining that a proposed ICE \u201cmegacenter\u201d would violate the state\u2019s \u201cpublic nuisance\u201d law \u2013 meaning it would harm the \u201chealth, safety, and wellbeing\u201d of the town\u2019s 5,000 or so residents.<\/p>\n
The town has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the plan, and aspects of the complaint show Social Circle \u201cis willing to pursue a new legal theory to defend their rights, to defend their town\u201d, said Adam Lauridsen, one of the plaintiff\u2019s attorneys. Social Circle is located in a county where nearly 75% voted for Trump.<\/p>\n
