A California court has dismissed a lawsuit filed \u2060by Donald Trump\u2019s administration<\/a> against Los Angeles over a city ordinance making it a \u201csanctuary city\u201d and limiting \u2060its cooperation with federal \u2060immigration \u200bauthorities.<\/p>\n Fernando Olguin, a judge in the central California US district court, rejected the administration\u2019s argument that the city\u2019s policy was unconstitutional. \u2060He gave the administration permission to file an amended complaint. The White House did not \u2060immediately respond to the Guardian\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n What did the city say about the victory?<\/strong> The Los Angeles \u200ccity attorney, Hydee \u200cFeldstein Soto, said: \u201cThis order reinforces the well-established principle that local governments have the authority to decide how to use their personnel and resources. The goal of this ordinance \u2026 is to encourage victims of and witnesses to crime to feel safe coming forward to seek help from LAPD regardless of their immigration status.
