Amish Shah, the two frontrunners, fell shy of capturing enough of the vote to win the nomination outright by early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the primary will go on to have a rare opportunity to flip a seat in the Canyon State and, more broadly, potentially decide the balance of power in Washington, D.C. Feely, who received President Donald Trump\u2019s &#8220;complete and total endorsement&#8221; in the final stretch of the race, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/ex-nfl-star-backed-trump-wins-battleground-state-primary-true-america-first-conservative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won his GOP primary<\/a> late Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-backed-firebrand-wins-arizona-gop-governor-primary-setting-up-high-stakes-showdown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>TRUMP-BACKED FIREBRAND WINS ARIZONA GOP GOVERNOR PRIMARY, SETTING UP HIGH-STAKES SHOWDOWN<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The seat could very well decide whether Republicans hold on to a slim majority in the House of Representatives or whether Democrats break a Republican governing trifecta come the <a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/category\/politics\/elections\/midterm-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">November midterms<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the district has favored Republicans since 2020, incumbent Rep. David Schweikert, R-Ariz., has only narrowly hung on to the seat in the past two cycles, beating out Shah in a 51.9% to 48.1% victory in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Schweikert announced that he would not pursue reelection last year, announcing that he would instead <a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-backed-firebrand-wins-arizona-gop-governor-primary-setting-up-high-stakes-showdown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pursue a gubernatorial bid<\/a>. Trump-backed Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., won his primary and was ahead of Schweikert by over 50 points early Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/vulnerable-republican-wins-gop-primary-arizona-toss-up-district-dems-aim-flip-blue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>VULNERABLE REPUBLICAN WINS GOP PRIMARY IN ARIZONA TOSS-UP DISTRICT DEMS AIM TO FLIP BLUE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve grown to believe Washington is unsavable. I do believe Arizona is savable,&#8221; Schweikert <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/local\/phoenix\/2025\/09\/30\/schweikert-arizona-governor-race-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">told Axios.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Amish Shah and Marlene Gal\u00e1n-Woods have competed against each other for their party\u2019s nomination, having clashed in the Democratic 2024 primary for the district.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, Shah narrowly defeated Gal\u00e1n-Woods before advancing to the 2024 general election, where he lost to Republican Rep. David Schweikert, who has represented the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/phoenix-scottsdale-and-tempe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Phoenix-area seat<\/a> since 2013 despite Democrats investing heavily to flip the district blue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/house-democrats-campaign-arm-draws-progressive-fury-trying-tip-scales-key-house-primary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>HOUSE DEMOCRATS&#8217; CAMPAIGN ARM DRAWS PROGRESSIVE FURY FOR TRYING TO &#8216;TIP THE SCALES&#8217; IN KEY HOUSE PRIMARY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He is seeking a second consecutive nomination after arguing he remains the strongest candidate to challenge Feely in the general election.
