The row over media access to the presidency has deepened, with major US television news outlets agreeing to suspend their video coverage of Donald Trump<\/a> after the administration banned journalists from several outlets from entering the White House grounds.<\/p>\n The president had abruptly announced his ban against CNN, MS Now and Politico, saying he had had enough of \u201cpurposely negative stories\u201d about him. On Monday the ban against CNN meant no broadcaster was covering Trump\u2019s midday ribbon-cutting for a new White House helipad. The White House provided its own livestream but the president\u2019s remarks were inaudible over the sound of a helicopter\u2019s engine.<\/p>\n How have CNN, MS Now and Politico responded to the ban?<\/strong> A lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order that would immediately lift the ban. In a statement, the organizations said<\/a>: \u201cWe are filing a lawsuit today to protect our first amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes.\u201d<\/p>\n What other significant media developments have <\/strong>there been?<\/strong> Paramount has reached a settlement with California and several other states that sued over its proposed $81bn merger with Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), the California attorney general announced, clearing the way<\/a> to consolidate some of Hollywood\u2019s most recognizable TV networks and studios under one owner.<\/p>\n What else is Trump expected to say at the UN? <\/strong>The US ambassador to the UN said Trump would speak about how he had \u201cconfronted complex problems head-on around the world\u201d.
