Author Natasha Lennard discusses how to disrupt the \u2018certainties\u2019 that don\u2019t serve us and how to fight back<\/p>\n
At the onset of the Covid pandemic in 2020, journalist Natasha Lennard started noticing a constant thrum of collective apprehension, epitomized in the phrase \u201cin these uncertain times\u201d. The expression acknowledged we didn\u2019t have solutions for many of society\u2019s problems: a globally spreading virus, the rise of the far right and stark \u201chaves v have-nots\u201d inequalities. In the years since, that \u201cuncertainty\u201d hasn\u2019t gone anywhere, risking enabling paralysis \u2013 not knowing where to start to fix things and therefore giving up before trying.<\/p>\n
In her new book, On Un\/Certainty: The Uses of Doubt in Dangerous Times,<\/a> Lennard, who also was an organizer in the 2011 Occupy Wall Street movement<\/a>, deconstructs the problematic nature of giving in to uncertainty.
