EXCLUSIVE: <\/strong>Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital that he plans to pursue an effort to expel Rep. Ilhan Omar<\/a>, D-Minn., if the Justice Department finds her guilty of immigration fraud.<\/p>\n

Fine, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, made the comments after Fox News Digital reported that a federal court filing identified Omar under the name “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi,” also listing “Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” as an alias. The filing has raised questions about Omar\u2019s identity and immigration records but does not establish that she committed fraud.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

“I assume that she\u2019s not a citizen, so we might not even have to do that,” Fine said. “You can\u2019t be in Congress if you\u2019re not a citizen of the United States, but if it isn\u2019t automatic, I absolutely will demand expulsion immediately.”<\/p>\n

Omar is a naturalized U.S. citizen. She was born in Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000. She has denied wrongdoing and called the investigation politically motivated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Fine said Democrats would attempt to block any Republican effort to censure or expel Omar.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t think Democrats think you should have to be American. They don\u2019t believe in borders,” Fine said. “They\u2019ve made that clear. They don\u2019t believe in America.”<\/p>\n

The House has the constitutional authority to expel a member<\/a>, but doing so requires a two-thirds vote. A criminal investigation or allegation alone does not automatically remove a member from Congress.<\/p>\n

Fine also criticized Rep. Delia Ramirez, D-Ill., who in September introduced the Reimagining Safety Act<\/a>, legislation that would dismantle the Department of Homeland Security and abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, while preserving some of its functions under a new agency, the Department of Community Safety.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

“Look at this bill filed by the congresswoman from Chicago, where she doesn\u2019t believe we should have borders, border protection or the ability to deport anyone,” Fine said.<\/p>\n

Fine also criticized Democrats who have called the Justice Department\u2019s investigation into Omar politically motivated, pointing to the separate inquiry into her financial disclosures. The investigation into her finances began<\/a> under former President Joe Biden in 2024, a detail that Fine claimed Democrats have intentionally overlooked.<\/p>\n

“Democrats don’t get held accountable for anything, and they agree on this agenda that is anti-American and anti-citizen,” Fine continued.<\/p>\n

Omar\u2019s Washington, D.C., residence was searched by Homeland Security Investigations agents on Oct. 12 as part of a federal investigation into possible false statements on immigration and naturalization documents. Federal authorities have also issued grand jury subpoenas to members of Omar\u2019s family and seized her cellphone, according to The Associated Press.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Omar\u2019s office did not respond to Fox News Digital\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n
