Trump supporters in Georgia are standing behind the president amid rising affordability concerns and higher gas prices stemming from the Iran war, with one voter calling him the “best president” in her lifetime.<\/p>\n
While Trump’ s approval rating<\/a> teetered at 36% and his disapproval rating stood at 64%, praise for Trump was high in Perry, Georgia, Saturday as he campaigned alongside Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson, CEO of a healthcare staffing group; Rep. Mike Collins, R- Ga., who is vying to unseat Sen. Jon Ossoff, D- Ga.; and candidates in House races across the state.<\/p>\n The race for Ossoff’s seat is highly contentious, as Republicans are seeking a pickup that would help them maintain control of the Senate. Ossoff won<\/a> the seat in a January 2021 runoff election by 1.22% \u2014 less than 55,000 votes. Trump, meanwhile, won<\/a> Georgia in 2024 by 2.2%. He told voters Saturday to act like “he’s on the ballot” come Nov. 3.<\/p>\n Rallygoer Gloria Barkman said she supports Trump because he delivers on his promises.<\/p>\n \u00a0“I\u00a0know\u00a0people\u00a0are\u00a0upset\u00a0because\u00a0things\u00a0don’t\u00a0look\u00a0good\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0gas\u00a0and\u00a0everything\u00a0like\u00a0that,\u00a0but\u00a0give\u00a0him\u00a0time\u00a0and\u00a0they’ll\u00a0be\u00a0seeing\u00a0the difference,” Barkman said.<\/p>\n FORMER NFL ALL-PRO RUNNING BACK JOINS PRESIDENT TRUMP FOR GEORGIA MIDTERMS RALLY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Barkman’s comments come as gas prices in Georgia<\/a> hover around $3.66 per gallon, compared with an average of $2.72 per gallon in February, before the start<\/a> of the Iran war. Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and threats to restrict shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have destabilized global oil markets, sending prices higher worldwide. The Iran war has been a major point of contention during Trump’s second term, with about 65% of Americans disapproving of Trump’s actions in the conflict, according to <\/a>Pew<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, rallygoer Jim Taylor, an Air Force veteran, said temporarily higher prices at the pump are a price worth paying to ensure Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon.<\/p>\n “I\u00a0guess\u00a0what\u00a0I’m\u00a0most\u00a0proud\u00a0of\u00a0is\u00a0what\u00a0the\u00a0president’s\u00a0done\u00a0in\u00a0Iran,” Taylor told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n “I\u00a0know\u00a0he’s\u00a0got\u00a0a\u00a0lot\u00a0of\u00a0criticism\u00a0for\u00a0it,\u00a0but\u00a0being\u00a0a\u00a0military\u00a0veteran\u00a0and\u00a0a\u00a0strong\u00a0supporter\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0military\u00a0itself,\u00a0\u00a0I’m\u00a0very,\u00a0very\u00a0proud\u00a0that\u00a0he\u00a0was\u00a0at\u00a0least\u00a0willing\u00a0to\u00a0step\u00a0up\u00a0and\u00a0do\u00a0what\u00a0had\u00a0to\u00a0be\u00a0done \u2014 to \u00a0take\u00a0care\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0bigger\u00a0picture because\u00a0gas\u00a0prices\u00a0really\u00a0wouldn’t\u00a0matter\u00a0if\u00a0a\u00a0nuclear\u00a0weapon\u00a0went\u00a0off\u00a0in\u00a0our\u00a0country,” Taylor continued.<\/p>\n Trump said during the rally that oil prices would come down soon and also touted an inflation rate of 1.7% over the last three months.<\/p>\n However, the latest official annual CPI inflation rate was 3.7% in September, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.<\/p>\n SEN DAVE MCCORMICK: TRUMP ACCOUNTS GIVE ALL AMERICANS A STAKE IN PROSPERITY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Meanwhile, rallygoer TJ Barb applauded Trump for the creation of Trump Accounts<\/a>, investment accounts established under Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act.<\/p>\n “The investment in children \u2014 that’s significant,” Barb told Fox News Digital. “Financial intelligence. He’s going to start giving that to our kids.”<\/p>\n Barkman said she is voting to protect the country.<\/p>\n “I\u00a0don’t\u00a0want\u00a0us\u00a0to\u00a0lose\u00a0our\u00a0country\u00a0because\u00a0we\u00a0stand\u00a0for the \u00a0United\u00a0States,\u00a0and\u00a0I’m\u00a0going\u00a0full\u00a0force\u00a0for\u00a0Trump\u00a0in\u00a0supporting\u00a0him\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0Republicans,” Barkmann said.<\/p>\n Taylor described the elections<\/a> as an “uphill battle” and said that although he wasn’t as familiar with Collins before the campaign cycle, Trump’s backing carries significant weight.<\/p>\n “I\u00a0would\u00a0vote\u00a0for\u00a0anybody\u00a0that\u00a0Trump\u00a0endorses,” Taylor said.\u00a0“I\u00a0think\u00a0Mike’s\u00a0a\u00a0good\u00a0candidate.”<\/p>\n Barb, who described himself as not very political, said he was also not as familiar with Collins before this midterm cycle but trusts Trump’s endorsement.<\/p>\n “He\u00a0can’t\u00a0be\u00a0bought,” Barb told Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/p>\n “So when\u00a0he’s\u00a0backing\u00a0these\u00a0guys,\u00a0we\u00a0know,\u00a0all\u00a0right,\u00a0well,\u00a0he’s\u00a0already\u00a0shown\u00a0what\u00a0he’s\u00a0done,\u00a0so\u00a0this\u00a0is\u00a0what\u00a0we’re\u00a0going\u00a0to\u00a0do,” Barb told Fox News Digital. “And\u00a0so\u00a0it’s\u00a0just\u00a0cut\u00a0and\u00a0paste\u00a0and\u00a0let’s\u00a0get\u00a0another\u00a0guy\u00a0up\u00a0in\u00a0there.”<\/p>\n But after seeing Collins on Saturday, Barb said he identified with the candidate beyond Trump’s endorsement.<\/p>\n “Hearing\u00a0his\u00a0story,\u00a0Blue\u00a0collar\u00a0stuff,” Barb told Fox News Digital. “He’s\u00a0gone\u00a0through\u00a0it,\u00a0I\u00a0think\u00a0that’s\u00a0what\u00a0helps\u00a0him\u00a0relate\u00a0to\u00a0other\u00a0folks. I like him a lot because he’s a lot like me, we’re just working dudes,” Salvesen told Fox News Digital. “He’s a logger. I’m a handyman, and we just didn’t like what we saw, so it prompted us to run.”<\/p>\n “I think Jon Ossoff<\/a> is terrible,” Salvesen continued. “And I’m not saying that because I’m Republican, I’m saying it because I studied him, and Mike Collins is a superior candidate to him if he can get the message out to the right people.”<\/p>\n SIGN UP TO GET THE POLITICS NEWSLETTER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n “I think once you know Mike Collins or Rick Jackson with or without Trump’s support you can’t help but go for these guys not because they’re Republicans because they are awesome candidates,” Salvesen continued.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Barkman said she has followed Collins during his time in the House of Representatives and praised his voting record.<\/p>\n “I’ve\u00a0always\u00a0been\u00a0impressed\u00a0with\u00a0him,” Barkman told Fox News Digital. “He’s\u00a0very\u00a0personable,\u00a0friendly.\u00a0He\u00a0reaches\u00a0out\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0people,\u00a0and\u00a0we\u00a0love\u00a0him.”<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Collins said he is “proud” to have Trump in his corner and is “out every day earning the trust of Georgians.”<\/p>\n “Like President Trump, Georgians are backing Mike Collins because he delivered the Laken Riley Act to deport criminal illegals, cut taxes for hardworking families, and is the only candidate who can beat radical leftist Jon Ossoff.
